Angry Armed Forces messing up pay

My husband is in the armed forces and has recently earned a well deserved promotion which along with the higher risks comes a higher wage. Unfortunately he has not seen any of this money yet as the 'system' hasn't updated yet and he's been under paid for 3 months. He'll get the money eventually but some of the lads have been waiting over six months for their pay rise!! Can they do this?

This kind of thing is very common, more so with the Army than the RAF and RN. It's a disgrace, but given the way Swiss Des and his gang at MOD treat the forces, I don't expect it to improve anytime soon.

The first point of contact should be his UPO/Gen Off/RHQ. If they have failed to sort it, or given excuses (it's because of JPA is the current favourite), or go into hand-wringing 'nothing we can do' mode, then a complaint under AGAI Chap 70 (Army), Redress of Complaint (RAF) or whatever the RN version is (almost certainly dating back to Nelson's time), is the way to make the chain of command take notice.

A post on British Army Rumour Service (RHQ forum), Royal Navy and Royal Marines Unofficial Community - Rum Ration or E-Goat the Unofficial RAF Rumour will bring plenty of informed answers.
