Default EGG - CC Repayment Protector Charges

Sent off my Data Protection Act to egg, and finally came a very concise pack, terms conditions, my signed agreement, statements etc.

But I noticed they were charging me Payment Protection Insurance at about £50 a month, adds up to about £600, then about £100 of late payment fees.

No where in their pack has anything to say I ordered it, should I wack them off a letter saying prove I signed for it? Or go ahead with a letter?

I was self employed at the time, so would not have gone for the insurance.

Any advice appreicated.

I'm also in the process of getting this back, found my original T&C's and contract but nowhere does it imply or have i requested Payment Protection. Another little unexpected windfall coming our way me thinks (or hopes)!! Good luck

I don't know if any of you are persuing this but the other day i got a very lame attempt at providing "proof" that i requested it. Basically Egg sent me a screen shot with a field entitled "Payment Protection" this field was populated with "Accident, Sickness, Unemployment and Life" and it looks like an editable field. Along with this screen shot was an explaination saying "this was populated by a feed from your on-line application where you requested it, this payment protection cannot be editted manually" However, my Data Protection Act pack didn't contain such a screen shot, it contains others and one that shares data fields with the "proof" one ... so why?? Do you think they may have fabricated this screen, it wouldn't be hard to knock up a Visual Basic prototype to mimic this screen, maybe 10 minutes work.. They're not detering me!!

hi just a quick word on this one, loyds tsb charged me 13,000 for an insurance policy on a business loan which i was desperate for at the time because of some serious delays.i never signed for it and when it was flagged up to me by my accountant i started the process to get it back.Needless to say a long battle commenced after a million reasons why i would not be getting it back 18 months later they refunded me in full.hang in there.
