Egg Heads???????

First a reply by e-mail for one sent to them with a polite enquiry about their charges on my account.
The second headed 'Dear Mike' is the reply to my formal e-mail claiming back 80 pound of charges.
Neither explains anything so l continue to continue................

Egg doesn't believe its Credit Agreement Conditions are 'unlawful'. Egg recognises customers sometimes exceed their Credit Limits and/or fail to make or are late in paying their required repayments, Egg therefore puts in place systems and processes to deal with this. The Charges set out in Condition 7 of the Agreement are calculated by taking into account the aggregate costs incurred by Egg in maintaining those systems and processes and the estimated number of customers who'll exceed the Credit Limits on their accounts and/or fail to make and/or be late in paying their required repayments. The amount of the Charges applied under Condition 7, represents a genuine pre-estimate of the loss caused to Egg by customers being late in and/or failing to make the agreed repayments and/or exceeding their Credit Limits.

Dear Mike We have noted the announcement made by the Office of Fair Trading on 05 April 2006 regarding credit card default charges. We are pleased that the OFT has recognised that Egg has practices in place to make it as easy as possible for customers to pay their monthly credit card bill, which includes the requirement to set up a Direct Debit prior to receiving an Egg Card or Egg Money card. We have worked closely with the OFT throughout this inquiry and now intend to study closely the key principles set out in their statement.
