| DVLA have lost my Documents Nightmare,
I am buying a cherished number plate of a friend and duly sent off all the correct documentation and cheque for the amount (both mine and my friends insurance doc, MoT cert, V5 etc) recorded delivery.
6 weeks later, I call the DVLA for a progress check to discover that the DVLA recieved the paperwork but apparently it was supposed to be sent to my local office (didnt even know that one existed and I dont recall seeing that on my application form) and so the DVLA sent it back to me - but I have never recieved those documents back.
What should I do next?

I don't understand why you sent the insurance certificate unless you were renewing the tax at the same time - it's not required for a transfer. |

| Re: DVLA have lost my Documents Pat - I am reasonably sure that Insurance certificates were required.
Yes I could re-apply for all my certs, costing me both time and money and then apply via a local office, however this does not get away from the fact that the DVLA has lost my documents and cheque, all of which would be gold dust to an identity fraudster, does it Conniff? |

They are only required if you are also enclosing a V10 to VED (tax) the vehicle. |
