Why oh why dont the DVLA send peoples licences and sensitive documents by a more reliable traceable means of postage? I sent my licence off for a change of address over a month ago and called them as its never taken this long before. Got through to someone eventually after the maze of bloody recorded messages and options to be told it was sent out within a week of them recieving the changes, that ones had to be cancelled and a new one sent apparently. So is someone now nicked my identity I dont know of? Doubt they will get far trying to get credit etc if they try as my credit file is minced due to BR.

Its just so damn annoying when you cant trust people you should be able to not to have sticky fingers. I guess I feel violated in a way not knowing if its being missused or not. I was beginning to think they had kept my licence for some weird reason.

Even if they sent it Recorded, that would only tell you what you know already, it wouldn't stop them going astray. The Passport Agency are now offering 'secure return' of documents, but this costs an extra £3. I doubt many would take them up on it (for a licence) because there's more value to original birth certificates etc

I don't think anyone has taken your identity. There is no more personal details on your license than in the telephone book.

I hadn't noticed my date of birth (a frequent ID question) in the phone directory.

The telephone book has your date and place of birth plus drivers number? I know its been a while since I looked in the phonebook, but I'm sure it doesn't have that information.
