Default License "revoked" for taking too long to send license off to be endorsed

Having had a clean driving license for 7 years, at the end of last year i was given 3 points on my license for travelling 50 miles an hour in a 40 zone. Due to changing addresses i never received the fixed penalty but the case went to court. I pleaded guilty in advance and didn't attend the court hearing.

This morning i have received a letter from the DVLA advising that my license has been revoked as i haven't sent it off to be endorsed with these 3 points. The letter states that i haven't responded to the original letter.... however i have never recieved this original letter and this is the first letter i have received.

Does anyone have any experience of this and of appealing the decision? The post in my area is notoriously bad and there have been numerous incidents of bills going missing.

Sorry, no experience of this but it doesn't surprise me in the least that you have to fight the DVLA at every turn and there's no independent ombudsman to hold them to account. I'd contact your MP in the first instance, and as a back up email the AA (the drivers rights part, not the insurer/rescue bit).

You can continue to drive on a revoked licence for upto 12 months providing that your are not disqualified for any other reason by a Court. All you need to do is re-apply for a new licence and one will be sent (showing the endorsement).

simple tgsh & spot on - only one slight problem for the OP is he will be asked by his insurer if their licence has ever been revoked & that is when the fun will start

Just curious....is this a random thing? My husband got 6 points in 2004 and never sent his off. We moved loads of times and still he never sent it off. However, about 6 months ago he started a new job which required an up to date driver's license and he was forced to send it off. He received it back within a week, no problems or anything.

see my story under dvla partial success a disabled tale

Go for an appeal, you have the right to appeal under law.

Dont let them intimidate you and explain whatever circumstances caused you to be late, together with any proof you can give.
