DVLA continuous registration muppets glasgow sorn caper saga

hi all, great site, heres my problem.... had a car last year,decided to sell,tax ran out<ie end of april 30th07>

car was laid up as was selling,,sold may 12th.

a saturday,buyer took there and then on condition i taxed it the following week, filled ot v5 etc,i used sorn /v5 to tax on the monday or tues,posted the tax disk to new owner, v5 to swansea, simple eh???

letter then in new year <08> from continuous registration retards in glasgow claiming i had not re taxed/sorned, i said had sold car in may,they disputed and said i couldnt have as i taxed it in may< please note there were 31 days in may, not one!!!

i checked my records, <are we obligied to keep addresses etc espically after 6 months???> and gave the information/new keeper address,they want conformation letter from dvla of "thankyou for letting us know of change etc..."
they say i am liable to £80 fine but as i am having problems and if they get their money by april 4th be £40. basically has anyone told them to shove it up their @@@@ and see you in court?:o :o :o :o :o :o
