This happened to me last year because of mis-communication between the court and an over eager stoopid DCA.

I'd paid the ticket and fine months before at the court but this information misteriously didn't get to the DCA. They arrived at my house at 8 am demanding almost £300 or they'd tow my vehicle straight away...I panicked and got my ex hubby over with the money ASAP and made them wait in thier vehicle. They said they had to wait for thier office to open at 9 am to check blah de blah...So, an hour of complete panic, knowing I didn't have anything outstanding re: fine, the DCA guys taking the money from my ex hubby and giving us a reciept, then when they called thier office the mistake was realised. Cheeky gits then shoved the money at me and sauntered off after grabbing the reciept and destroying it infront of us We then had no real proof any of that had happened so weren't able to pursue a complaint.

Check everything, court, DCA office etc. ASAP.

update
i was in total shock yesturday
i totally admit i didnt pay the penalty for the Parking charge notice and had forgotton all about .out of the blue a baliff from drakes parks his van on my drive and blocks my exit and clamps the car and demands £356.40 for a £95 warrentt issues 10 working days ago .

i have not recieved any letter of notice nothing .
i only had half hour till i had to pick my toddler from playgroup .
scanned all docs .cried for help on this site and tried to find out what to do next .
i called the police as the warrent was in my oh name and he was not here they told me they could not do anything .
i asked the baliff to justify the charges he replied full amount or the car is being towed in an hour .
i paid the amount by card through drakes offices and he left .

i have since rang dcs who have adviced that he is only registered to JACOBS not drakes i have to ring back in 1/2 hour to talk to a senior officer to investigate if this was an unlkaw full act

It has only today it has become to my attention that a warrant of execution was issued on the 23 /05/07 and issued to Drakes bailiffs on the 24/05/07.

As today is the 7/6/07 14 days 10 working days since the warrant was issued
I have received no notification or even had the opportunity to respond .
I was attend by a xxxxxxxxxt this morning when I had my car clamped and forced to pay
Penalty parking charge Inc cc £95 -bailiffs attendance cost. £40.94-attendance to remove/removal costs £180.00 vat 38.66
A total of £354.60

It is my understanding that any addition charges are made under the following regulations
Road Traffic Act 1991 Fees and Charges Effective 1st October 2003

The Enforcement of Road Traffic Debts (Certificated Bailiffs) Regulations 1993 - continued
SCHEDULE 1
TABLE OF FEES CHARGES AND EXPENSES

(Excluding Value Added Tax)
1. For preparing and sending a letter advising the debtor that a warrant is with the bailiff and requesting the total sum due
£10.00

Note: The fee under paragraph 1 can only be recovered if the letter is sent before a first visit is made to the debtor's premises. 2. for levying distress—
(I) where the sum demanded and due does not exceed £100

i honestly would have paid this PCN as im back on two feet and never want them knocking on my door again
can somebody confirm that the additional penalty charges are unlawful.
and best action to complain and get my money back
