Default Westcot

I received a letter from Wescot about 6 or 7 weeks ago for a debt owed to another company. I agreed at the time to pay this off at £50.00 per calendar month. I have since been made redundant and awaiting redundancy pay, not to mention Joobseekers allowance being sorted out. They phoned me at home and, after explaining my situation to them, I was told that I would have to pay £20.00 within the week and £50.00 a month thereafter. Should I now send them a letter offering £20.00 per month as I feel that's more than I can afford anyway. I still havent received jobseekers allowance yet so they will just have to wait. If they decide to take the matter to court do I have the right to ask for dates of such actions as I will have to defend my position. I am in Scotland if that has any bearing on the matter. Thanks for any help.

That's outrageous! Given your circumstances you should be offering them £1/mo !

These people are good!

Give them a call before you get back to Wescott.

Good luck, regards, Dave.

Thanks diskmandave. I thought as much., but given my initial offer, which was given in good faith. I had thought they would be more understanding. So much for charity. They seem to be hell bent on getting moneys due, irrespective of the circumstances. They are without doubt, dubious. I know I was the original defaulter, however you do tend to lose things when you move house. Another point I may ask is do I not have the right to ask for an itemised bill for checking purposes, having lost the original correspondence in my flit as we call it up here. I think the bill is overinflated and maybe charged for Items I did not recieve. To let all understand, the original client is a book come sub company who sends out goods every month. If not returned you are charged. I did inform them of my change of address however I cannot prove this. Anyway I will pay the bill in full when I get my redundancy, just don't want any extras. I did pay them the first payment of £50, Wescot that is
