| Can I get a default removed? I have a default on my credit file from our friends at Wescot dating back to 2002, which relates to an old Vodafone account. At the time I was unaware of the antics of DCA and didn't question their ethics in fear or what might happen next (court, public stoning you get the picture). Given the fact that in the past three months you orrible lot have opened my eyes and educated me in the ways of such orginisations I have a sneaky suspicion that maybe they didn't play fairly.:o The account is shown as settled, which I know to be true, however apart from the usual threatening letters advising that if I failed to pay there and then my first born would be taken, I don't recall ever receiving formal notice that a default would be recorded on my credit file. My question is this. I appreciate that In order to get the ball rolling I need the account number, what happens If I don't have this. Would Wescot be able to pull my account details up using just my address, and would they be able to after 6 years. My main and only goal is to get the default removed as I believe the DCA failed to adhere to the proper procedure. If any of you kind fellows could point me in the direction of a appropriate letter I would be very grateful Cheers all. |

You may have to go back to the original creditor re the default. Was the default based on unlawful charges? |

| Re: Can I get a default removed? The amount defaulted was less than £100, and was for charges applied after the mobile phone contract I had at the time was canceled. I contested my liability with Vodafone but they stuck to their guns stating that a formal request for the termination of the account had been received, so effectively meaning that I had to pay 2 months line rental. |
