Hi Emmerie. I'm in the same position as you but after finding this site, am seeing a bit of light at the end of the (very long & dark) tunnel.

I had have two visits from someone from DLC in the last few days. The first time no one was in, the second, only my 12 year old son, being half term! My son said the man was ok but asked too many questions. Fortunately my son is pretty savvy so didnt give any info out. I'm now typing out my CCA letter as well so we'll see what happens. The idea of having to worry about some bloke knocking on my door late at night is pretty scary (single mum with 2 kids) - he might be okay but it frightens the life out of me.

Can you post any updates as you get them re this company? Forewarned is forearmed, as they say!

Good luck

Have just been looking through the stacks of letters I have got here (admittedly some not always opened when they first arrive!) I hadn't had anything from them since a letter dated 26th July 2006.. nothing at all.

I read somewhere that some debt collectors say they want to call between 8am and 8pm, which is outrageous. Fortunately I leave for work before then, but was a bit spooked at home this evening, half expecting a bang on the door. I know its my own fault for letting things get this bad, and am quite prepared to pay what I owe, but surely these people should realise that a bit of understanding and proper handling will get the result they want, rather than intimidating us.

Having said that, I think I might try to see if I have been charged any 'unlawful' charges before I finally start to pay!

The chap from DLC called this morning. I told him I had sent a CCA request to them. He wanted to come in and discuss it with me, but I told him I had requested everything put in writing. He kept saying 'I am the last of the good guys'! He did actually seem ok but when I mentioned CCA requests and SARs he said he had been in the busines for ever and had never heard of these documents! OK - Whatever! He asked for my phone number, mobile number, could he come back with the response to my CCA request. I firmly but politely told him no, I wanted everything in writing. And so he left! For me, that is a minor but significant result. Small steps....
