| | Classic Account Customer | Bwdski Vs CCS I received a letter from CCS( Commercial Collection Services) a couple of weeks back asking for repayment of a debt I had.
The debt was for a book club, which I'm quite sure I met the criteria of their offer and didn't want any more books, they kept sending them just the same.
I sent a CCA request letter on the 8th Feb to them in reply to this letter that I received.
I received a reply to that request on the 14th Feb stating the following: Quote:
Dear *********
Thank you for your recent letter dated 8th February.
We write to advise you that we have acknowledge the contents of your letter and our Client will be sending the agreement to you direct.
Please find enclosed your cheque for £1.00, if you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us.
Yours sincerely,
| I left it at that. Haven't sent them another letter or contacted them in any way.
Today, I received another letter from CCS with a Discount Offer.
This is slightly more demanding: Quote:
Your debt is among a batch due to be sent to my associate company Scotcall Ltd. One of their collectors will shortly call at your door, to recover £****** that you owed to my client ************ for a very long time.
These visits are expensive for me so, I can offer you a reduction in the balance that you owe if you pay CCS quickly. If you are quick and take up my offer, paying me a smaller amount immediately (whatever amount we agree) I'll write off the rest of the balance. I'll also ensure that ScotCall's collector doesn't call.
I suggest you use a credit or debit card, to speed things up. One easy 'phone call and the problem is solved. Phone me with the card details and it ensures that you beat the collector to it! There's a special 'phone number, which is 0870 *** ****, I get hundreds of calls, so you may have to hold a little and speak to one of my staff. So be patient, please.
I'm sure you'll agree this is a sensible solution. You get a good reduction to your balance, and my client gets paid too, but you must ACT QUICKLY. Otherwise it's out of my hands.
| Just a few questions.
Their reply to my first letter, does this mean that they have as much time as they want to supply my CCA Request?
And the second letter they sent me, is this their way of getting me to respond before their 12 days are up - which will be early next week. |

Don't ring them or wite to them, just wait for the clock to tick. | Thanks!
Does seem like that doesn't it.
What about them returning my cheque and telling me that the client will contact me directly? |

Try not to read in to their words too much, you have made a legal request, so it is they who should be fretting, not you. | Thanks, as always great advice from you. |

Any advice as to what to do next please?
Do I just ignore it because of the 12 + 30 days rule? |

| Re: Bwdski Vs CCS I'm currently dealing with CCS too.
So far it has been 2 months since I sent them a CCA request.
I sent them a letter when the 12+30 day deadline was up
saying basically I don't acknowledge the alleged debt,
and to stop hassling me. Also added the "You may have
broken the law by failing to comply with the CCA request +
processing my personal data without my permission."
So far, no reply from them, or any letters/calls asking for payments.
Could do with a nice template letter, to send to trading standards,
if anyone can point me in the direction of a copy on here? |
