Hi
Help! (i seem to be on here a lot these days!)
Basically I registered my car SORN back in March, (couldn't afford running costs whilst moving out due to end of marriage!) so moved back to my folks and in July/Aug went to the DVLA, re-registered and taxed my car and ordered new car documents (went missing from my ex's safe hmm) so been happily living at my parents taxing my car staying in the law.
Last month my tenants moved out of a flat I had been renting and I moved back in. Today I get a letter from a collections agency acting on behalf of the DVLA demanding an out of court settlement or they will take me to court because I have ignored all previous letters and threating to clamp and impound my car!
The are fining me for not registering my car SORN, This i know i did, they never mentioned anything when i went and reg-registed and taxed my car and they are saying they are fineing my because I should have chased up with them when I didn't get confirmation of the SORN (this i didn't realise I had to do) they say its on the form - it is but its writing on
the back of the bit you post back to them!
So what do I do? they've been writing to the wrong address for I don't know how long demanding money now that I don't have until the 15th and when I tried to speak to the Collections lady the woman was really nasty and said i needed to pay now because the fine was about to go up!
I don't want to pay the £80 but i certainly don't want to pay £1000 either this is the first letter i've seen - is there something i can do? the reason i've not responded is because they have not been writing to the address they have had for me since July - they sent the case over to the collections agency in August so they had all my new contact details
Please Help
