Re: BPO Collections - Jammed Phone Not had this. Wonder where the Telephony Act, misuse of would fit into this? I know it covers things like using a telephone to harass for example. Would this be construed as harassment, of sorts? Clearly, they are using some method to ensure their system doesn't hang up, thus leaving the line open. If nothing else they are effectively barring you from receiving incoming/or making calls. What if, for example, they prevented you from phoning police or ambulance in an emergency?
Only thing I could suggest is reporting it/the number to BT? Maybe they can remove whatever they are doing to your line or, hopefully, ban them. I have had a trace on my phone done by BT twice in the past, but not for anything like this. Each time someone calls you, witheld or not, it is then automatically logged by BT but also traced back to it's source. Just something else to possibly consider. It's a free service *or was when I was forced to use it* and usually lasts one month. It's also done in conjunction with the police. Not certain where it would be of use to this problem ... however, whomever is calling you is clearly abusing the phoneline. Surely that, in itself, is a form of harassment/abuse? |
