Wrong Orange contract (12months) was sold to me by Carphone Warehouse. However, the contract was cancelled and the SIM card broken by Carphone Warehouse within 3 weeks of purchase.
I was resold another 18 month Orange contract by them on which I have been paying every month by direct debit without fail.
However, the problem started when the contract was not properly cancelled. Orange was not accepting the Carphone Warehouse cancellation and kept sending me bills which later went to debt recovery. Carphone warehouse paid the relevant charges (£9

in May 2007 and I was told that the account with Orange has been “settled”.
I stopped receiving bills and there was no communication from Orange about further cancellation charges or anything at all (which is what you would normally expect orange to do before referring the account to debt collection). However, I have now been receiving letters from NCO Europe saying that I owe Orange £250. Upon calling them, they were very rude. I said I need to confirm with Carphone and Orange what the debt is about because orange have not written anything to me at all.
I called Orange, but they have given the number to someone else now and their collections department can not provide me any details of the charges as it has now been passed to debt collection. I keep receiving threatening alls from NCO.
I went to Carphone warehouse again, but they want to see bills from Orange, which orange is unable to provide!
The worse matter is that this contract appears unfairly on my Equifax
credit report and I am listed as a delinquent account holder, even though it is not a debt I owed or payments that I was supposed to pay but failed to. I was unfairly caught up in miscommunication between Orange and Carphone.
Even though I have been paying every month on time for 18 months to Orange, I am being chased by highly ill-mannered debt collection and listed as a defaulter for a contract for which I don’t even have a SIM card! This is highly inaccurate and unfair.
Please advise what I can do.
