Default I need advice regarding Halifax

Hi all

I had a Halifax credit card, that i have been paying back over the last couple of yrs, via doorstep collection, all was fine got the bill down to what i had spent, although had yet to pay of the added interest that had accrued on the account
Any how the chap I paid stopped coming back toward the end of last year and i heard nothing more .... till i went to my current account today to find an odd cash payment made from the account. I duly rang the bank to find out what this payment was and i would seem that their debt collection agency OLiver ...something and something had internally taken the payment out of the account...

Now I have never heard of this grp..nor had i given them either bank account details nor debit card details with which to take any payments... but it seems because they belong to the bank they have the authority to pilfer from my account as and when it takes there fancy!

can someone let me know if this in fact the case, are they allowed to do this ??

Hi, macushlamoon.

I,m sure Blair Oliver and Scott are HBOS inhouse debt collectors.
I think they can take money from one account to pay towards another, the call it 'offsetting'.

It will be in your T'&C's.

Regards.

Scott.

I think a little humourous intent went into the name "BOS"

Bank of Scotland own Halifax and why wouldn't their in house collections have the same initials

Hi

Get all your money out of the halifax or Bank of scotland account as soon as you can.

Even if you CCA them and inform them the account is in dispute, they will continue to take money from your account.

They took 7 months to provide me with a copy of an application form ( going through the court process at the moment ) and still kept withdrawing funds from my account.

I opened a basic account at the Co op bank as soon as I could and moved all my banking business there.

They are a law unto themselves and ignore all OFT guidelines etc and believe they are above the law.

Regards

Santos

Santos.... sorry to hear this has happened to you too...
I would be really interested to hear how it goes in court,
I will update as, when and if i hear anything from the FO, as per my conversation with them today, they said that as a DCA whether affiliated to the bank or not they should not have access to my account details????? and that the DCA should have contacted me regarding a repayment plan, which of course they didn't.
