Default Advice needed please

On 30/6 I recieved a letter from NDR reference an outstanding debt to Great Universal. Thing is, I paid this to GUS and the chq cleared on 11/6/2007.
Then some kind person on here told me to write to them with a 'Notice of impending legal proceedings', which I sent on 10/7/07.
This morning I have recieved a Default notice (will this go on my credit file?), so I want to actually start legal proceedings against NDR and GUS. Thing is, I don't have a signed credit agreement, but I don't owe them anything either!
Please can someone point me in the right direction - i am so mad with them, so revenge is in order!!
Thanks

This is typical of NDR. Have you got your statements, if so, are there are any charges on there that you could claim back? If you haven't got your statements and you know they have added charges then I would do a Subject Access Request to get all your statements then issue a claim for all the charges added.

They haven't added any extra charges - same amount that I paid in June. Is there a template of a letter anywhere that I could send them?

I'm a bit confused why you would want to start legal proceedings. All you need do is send them a bit of your bank statement where it shows the cheque clearing.

This looks crazy...!

Forget anything that you've been told or advised....

Can you start from scratch please...? Step by step, upto as it is to date..

Why are you starting legal proceedings before even attempting resolution steps??! Seemingly...

Regards, Dave..

I fear it was me that gave the advice, and the reason I gave it was that at the time, i thought OP had sent them several letters including proof of payment that they had already paid the debt, and they had issued a default subsequent to these letters, and refused to remove it in phone conversations...

Looking at the original thread, I'm not so sure that this was the case.

can you confirm, tiaposy?
