Cool Dont know what to do...

Hello,

I’ve just found this website (which is genius) by researching a letter from the SBI. (Scottish bureau of investigation) I expected Muldoon and Sculett to come marching through my front door, hunting down debts from another world!

I've been hounded by welcome finance, I had to quit my job ( I worked for carphone warehouse & because we sold insurance apparently I couldn’t work for them anymore)

I had to ask 2 guys to leave my store - who claimed to work for these monkeys, they "interviewed" my staff as to my whereabouts and after I quit, they came back to find out who and where I was now working.

They have been calling my folks who are pensioners and are terrified that they are about to be done for my debt.

Last year 2 guys came to my front door and handed my parents a letter, this was a charge of payment?? Not sure if that was the right name, but I took it to the CAB and started the process of bankruptcy. I had to quit my job and I was out of work for 3 months, so I didn’t go back to the CAB , I became really depressed and near suicidal, I split with my partner and just had a really bad time.

Since then, I’ve found a new job, but still not done anything to sort this out - you could say that I’ve buried my head in the sand.

I received a letter from this SBI crowd today and need to sort this.. I’m terrified about going bankrupt, but I just don’t know what to do.

I cant find the served letter & I don’t want to call them as they will just hassle my parents again. Apologies for the depressing diatribe, but if anyone can offer any advice I would be most grateful.

for the love of Pete Bankruptcy is the last thing for you to do. First what was the debt for ? was it a bank deal or a purchase? how long ago was it made if it was a purchase? how much is the debt for? have anybody threatened to take you to court? If not you have plenty of time to go. I don't know if I can be of help but maybe if you answer the above questions, or someone else reading you message can help. in the meantime keep your chip up and best of luck

Hello, Its for various things. I took out a loan with welcome finance 75% apr , but desperate to live I took it out. I went to a debt management company - who never managed to get most of my creditors to agree to a management programme - I was then hounded by Welcome and everyone who I was managing to pay , but struggling to live. The last time I went to the citizens advice bureauthe lady was more than a little condescending. My total debt is for 10k ish....really not a lot. but its hanging round my neck! Thanks for the message

What are the payments? How much can you pay a month? Have you tried offering Welcome Fin. an ammount you can safely afford to pay each month? you can also seek help from a lawyer claiming legal aid. If all else fails. good luck

When did you take the loan out with Welcome Finance roughly and was it just a normal loan to advance you some funds rather than say for car purchase or something like that?

Your folks have no liability whatsoever for your debts. In fact they should not be contacting your folks at all.

From now on you must insist that all communication is in writing only (this is your legal right). DCA's have no legal powers and have no right to call when they have been explicitly told not to.

Hey thanks for the replies. The loan was taken out as I was struggling to live - I took the loan to pay off a few other bits and then screwed myself.. After about a year - I went to Harrington Brooks for debt management , they were taking £175 a month off me.. 8 months passed and I they hadnt managed to stop lloyds from calling me and welcome. I changed my mobile number, my folks were getting upto 10 calls a day - 15 calls in 1 day mostly from welcome finance. I stopped with harrington brooks as they were useless. .. Strangely.... Harrington Brooks have just called me 20 mins ago to ask if I was still in debt.. Thats bad Karma !
