Question Trust Deed Change of Circumstances

Hi All,

Looking for some advice regarding my Protected Trust Deed. My husband and I signed up for this in February this year and have been managing to live within the constraints of it.

However I've recently found out I'm pregnant (not planned!) and so our circumstances will soon change. I've just completed the first review of our PTD and am unsure if I should inform the IP now or wait til nearer the time.

I'm really scared what will happen next and I don't want her to think we've been stupid and ask us to get rid of the baby, that is not an option!

Any advice or guidance on this would be really really appreciated.

Hey,

You should note your change of circumstances now as leaving it til later will make the trustee more inclined to think you haven't complied fully by keeping them informed.

Depending on who your Trust Deed is with, the Trustee might ask for proposals for a contribution you can afford.

The Trustee will probably still expect a return for creditors but it being lower will be well justified by your unforeseen change in circumstances. It is a normal thing to happen and you cannot help that your disposable income will be lowered through feeding another mouth.

If the Trustee sees you cooperating and showing them you want it sorted they will not have reason to have a problem with this. It is better for you to give proposals to them then them choosing.

Let us know on here how it goes.

Hi Mrs Mopp

Firstly, congratulations!

If you just let your Trustee know about this change and what you are planning (having to live on maternity pay or not etc, ie how this will affect your income etc) and how they want to handle it.

You should be able to put your monthly contributions on hold for a while until you are able to get things back to a bit more normal. This will mean your Trust Deed would last longer but I would certainly ask them about it if that would help.

As long as you show the willing to co-operate and be honest you should have no worries. And they have NO say in how you live your life - only your finances etc for the next few years - don't you worry.

Best of luck and let us know how you get on.
