Default Sherriff officers coming next week, please help

Hello

Can anyone give me advice on this? I have a small debt (not my only ones, but the smallest) I have been trying to pay the ones who are hassling me on the phone, letters etc and forgot this one.
Sherriff officers from musselburgh have sent me a letter saying they are coming to carry out an attachment of my goods and then are going to remove them for auction asap. I am living here in a fully furnished house, I am scared to let my landlord know about this in case he tells me to leave, the only items that belong to me are my PC and my TV, clothes and small personal items. I have a lease and an inventory that I signed when I came here. I live with my daughter and am scared to answer the door, I keep the blinds shut at all times. Also, can they sell my pets, I have a parrot that we have had for 8 years, and I read on another forum that they can take animals if they are worth any money? I am beside myself at the thought of this. This debt has been to court, they sent me a letter saying I had to pay in 14 days or else I admit I have not done anything about this, there is just too much. I am not at work because of work related and personal stress, am on medication and finding it hard to do this on my own. I take responsibility for the debts and was foolish to think that I would always be able to pay everything.
sorry to go on and on

Thanks

Hiya,

Try and stay calm. I've been in a few houses where the sheriff officers have attended and to be honest they do not want your things they want the money. They have came in and made and inventory but always set up a payment arrangement there and then. I have not seen anyones godds taken.

What you can do:

get out all your paperwork and make up and income and exp sheet listing your income and all your outgoings and work out what you have left. What debts you have them make offers on these to pay regular payments including this one for the sheriff officers.

You can send them the following letter and try include the payment and a copy of your income and exp sheet to all your creditors:

Dear Sir/Madam

Re Account No/Reference No:− 4563210025897412

Since making that above agreement with you, our circumstances have changed.

We cannot now afford to agreed monthly payments because ... [your paragraph added here]

We enclose a Personal Budget sheet which shows our total income from all sources, and our outgoings. As you can see we have only £123 per month left for our creditors. The offers we have made to our creditors have worked out on a pro−rata basis, and we have written to all our creditors asking them to accept reduced payments.

In view of our circumstances, please would you agree to accept a reduced offer of £27 per month. If interest or other charges are being added to the account we would be grateful if you would freeze these so that all payments made will reduce what I owe you.

Should our circumstances improve we will contact you again.

We would be grateful if you would send a paying−in book to make it easier to pay you. Thank you for your assistance. We look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.

Yours faithfully
Mr A N Other

I know alot of forum members diasagree about provising your income etc but doing this does help the creditors to except the payments.

Idax
