Thumbs down DIXONS: £1500 LG LCD DLP 42" TV - Broke after 24 months

Hi
Can anyone help here.....
We purchased a 42" LG LCD DLP tv from dixons in March 2005. 2 days ago our tv turned itself off and fails to turn back on. The small ignition lamp light is on and we have been told that this means the lamp for projection has broken and needs to be repalced.
We have masterplan cover but the lamps are not covered on the policy. Also, they cost about £300 for the part.
What can we do? Dixons dont want to know, surely this cannot happen after only 24 months.
We are still paying on finance for TV - HFC bank owe about £200
Any advice would be appreciated
Regards
Sharon

something like the bulb in your tv (being rear projection) will be classed as a consumable. So similar to car break pads etc not being covered under waranty I doubt you'll have much joy with this.

seems to be a commonish problem

If they're repairing it they should do this within a reasonable time and put the TV back into the condition you would expect it to be in.

But it sounds like they are intending to repair it, which is what they would have to do by law if the fault is not normal wear and tear.
