Thumbs down Currrys policy to ignore your rights

I bought a mobile clam shell telephone from Currys online.
It was delivered by a courier none to gently.
The inner screen has failed within 10 days.
I took it back to the local store who told me I must have dropped it.
They agree that there is no sign of it being dropped or damaged.
I asked for it to be sent away for inspection.
Called back in a 3 days later to be told it had been inspected and I would have to pay or take it up with the network provider or the supplier.
Gave me back the phone . I asked how they had managed to send it away and gewt it back within 3 days.
Reply was they had rung up aftersales and asked themto examine it over the phone.
Pointed out the sal of goods act waapplied and they were the ones who had to sort it not network provider.
Asked again for them to send it away .
This time it came back still unexamined but with a note saying it was due to being dropped or knocked as it was damaged.
I asked where the damage was and got told it was the broken inner screen that I had taken it in for at the start.
Rejected the phone under the sale of goods act and left with the shop
Asked Currys online what they would do about this and their reply was

If you can show that the fault your phone has developed is due to a
manufacturing fault we can still help you with the cost of fixing this
item. If you wish to apply for this please obtain an engineer's report from a suitably qualified engineer identifying the fault, the cause of fault (e.g.
manufacturing fault, fair use, accidental damage) and the cost of a repair.
You should then post this to the following
address:
Customer Service Contact Centre
PO Box 1687
Sheffield
S2 5YA
We will then consider your claim. If successful we will pay the costs of
obtaining this report and make a contribution towards either a repair or
replacement, depending on the cost of repair.

Their policy is to deny you your rights and hope you do not sue.
I will sue just on principle. (plus I have legal insurance to cover for this)
Any one else had this treatment

Yes, my parents are going through something similar... Its a shame that they want you to pay so much money to get it examined when they should do it!!! Disgusting!
