sounds more like a trojan activity, thats been let to eat its way throughthe system.
to clear this up
go on to the panda online scanner [ ]Panda Software. Protection against viruses, Spyware, Spam and other Internet threats
let it do its bit
and see what it says.
if it gives a clean bill of health, then printout the report, & go back to the shop, show them it, and BE NICE, ask them if they could please check over the operating system as it keeps crashing.
if you can note down the blue-screen-of-death number.
then a search engine will tell you what is most prob faulty.
