| | Basic Account Customer | Currys/Indesit Dryer Hello all,
Bit of help needed here...I bought an Indesit tumble dryer from Currys Shrewsbury on 19/11/06. It wasn't it stock so was told it would be a day or so before it was delivered. I chased every few days but was told it wasn't available...then made a call on 1/12/06 and told it would be delivered 8/12/06.
It was delivered yesterday, left unpacked and I set it up this morning. I put a load in to dry and after about 10 minutes went out for a little while. Returned to find the dryer making terrible grating sounds and when I opened it, found items of clothing were stuck between the front panel and the rotating drum! Some of the clothes have been damaged, with black marks and actualy tears on a couple of things...I took a picture of the clothes actually stuck and then video of the dryer in action, complete with sound!
I made 7 calls to the various numbers on reciept, with no luck, so I went down to the store and then said they would arrange for it to be collected and a new one delivered...I told them they were of course kidding, as I wouldn't touch a thing from them again, I want my money back! But what about the damage to my clothes! Any ideas?

| | Platinum Account Customer | Re: Currys/Indesit Dryer Refund shouldn't be a problem, there is no way that you can be deemed to have accepted the goods within 24 hours. Stick to your guns and keep on telling them you are rejecting the goods, as is your statutory rights under SOGA, they don't have a leg to stand on.
Clothes: I'm going to guess that you won't have the receipts for them. Id that is the case, you are going to have to try and price identical ones as of now. Search online, and print out the pages. Of course, the problem will be how old some of the clothes will be, and there should be some allowance made for that. Having said that, if their customer services were any good, they'd just give you new for old, but we know they're unlikely to do that...
I would 2 lists: Brand new replacement (which you will include in your letter asking for reimbursement), and allowing for fair wear and tear on the ruined clothes (which you do not give them!). Try to hold out for the new price, so that you don't end up out of pocket. This way, you are leaving some room for negotiation.
