[BBC NEWS] Dixons to leave UK's High Streets

Dixons, Europe's largest electrical retailing group, will remove its name from the UK High Street.
The company said it will switch its focus to selling its products over the internet, and will rebrand its Dixons stores under the Currys name.

The move is intended to give customers a clearer concept and view of the two brands, Dixons said in a statement.

Making the change will cost Dixon's about £7m, but it is expected to save the firm close to £3m annually.

My son had a Saturday job at our local Dixons until it closed down a couple of years ago along with a lot of others. They got rid of all the stock at very silly prices so you might be able to pick up a few bargains if there is a Dixons near you.

Been on the cards for a long time.

The out of town superstores seem to get all the business.I always found Dixons to be a bit pricey.
I think a lot of their problems is that they have relied heavily on the brand name and took it for granted they are or were a high street force that could always survive......rather like M&S but as we know they had to make big changes.
