Default Dixons - refusing to supply my cooker order

Hi.

I went online to order a cooker package on Saturday night... complete with splashback and hood.

The price of the package was £599 and I had a promotional code that they advertised to get £50 off... this was my main reason for choosing this particular cooker.

When I put in the code the discount was £549 and that left the price of the cooker at £50.

I realise this must have been a mistake but not on my part! So seeing this I went back and ordered one for my gran who is in desperate need of a new cooker.

I went through the process to pay and received a confirmation email saying that my order was complete and it had the receipt of £100 for the goods and it stated they would get back to me with a delivery date subject to stock availability, also the £100 had been held in my account by Dixons.

Today I received an email stating "Unfortunately, we are unable to accept your order" and "If you wish to re-order, please visit our website".

This is clearly not a case of no stock availability if they are wanting me to re-order.

I have emailed Dixons back asking why do I have to re-order (as needless to say they have noticed the mistake and de-activated the promo code) only to be told "Unfortunately on this occasion we have been unable to fulfill your order. Therefore, it has been cancelled and we will refund any payment made in relation to this order. "

I am looking for advice regarding this as I would like the cookers at £50 each as stated on my receipt, even though it is probably a mistake.

Not gonna happen.

From their website:
Quote:
Our Contract
You will have an opportunity to check and correct any input errors in your order up until you click the Submit Order button.

After you submit an order we will give you an Order Reference Number and details of the products you have ordered. We will send the same details to you in an e-mail (our first e-mail). We will then send a second email when we start to process your order. Please note that these e-mails are acknowledgements, not acceptance of your order.
Subject to the paragraph headed “IMPORTANT” underneath the “Prices and payment” section below, acceptance of your order and the creation of a legally binding contract between us will only occur when we send you a third e-mail, which will contain details of how your products will be delivered to you. Alternatively, we may decline all or part of your order for any reason, in which case our third e-mail will tell you so.
Quote:
IMPORTANT: We try very hard to ensure that all information on this site is accurate. However, just occasionally, an error can occur. If we discover an error in the price or description of a product you have ordered, we may cancel your order at any time up to the point we send the product(s) to you (even if we have sent you our third email).
They've got themselves covered.

No - it is the customer who makes the offer to buy and for the seller to accept it. Where, however, there is a mistake, then the seller can refuse the order where it is blatantly a mistake (i.e, a £2000 telly going for £2.00) - it is a difficult one and depends on the individual circumstances, but that is the general situation
