Red face reasonable time question help help help

Advice needed on this

okay the situe

lg lcdtv 37 inch: £999
bought from currys on: 11/08/2007
fault spotted on 29/10/2007
on off light flashes as if its coming on but nothing happens

Reported to currys same day. They say they can not get anyone out for ten days. Engineer booked for 7/11/2007

is this classed as reasonable time, considering they may not be able to fix it on the spot. Currys say so and manager said there is nothing he can do. Customer services says a reasonable time is 28 days for a repair.

Is this enough to class as significantly inconvenient. I think so as it's my only tv.

Is there anything else i can say to them or do to speed this up. or can i legally reject the repair on a nearly new item of such value and demand a new tv

please help the new guy

It is unfortunately for a court to deide whether a timeframe is unreasonable or not. Leigslation states that any repair remedy should be carried out with minimal inconvenience to the buyer. So what is inconvenient and, the crux of the matter, how much is it worth?

You could demand a replacement TV whilst yours is being repaired or the cost hiring a TV during the replacement period.

Also report the matter to Trading Standards / Consumer Direct

Try using the SOGA politely but firmly and demand a repalcement. More than likely if you throw a few SOGA clauses at them, they will capitulate especially if it is done in writing.
