Default Not sure if its worth pursuing charges

Hi
Im new to the site and I have been looking about at the banking stuff.

Im with the co-op bank and sorry to say this but im rather happy with them in general they are usually dead helpful and can accomodate my needs.

What im wondering is, were alot of people on here who have claimed back charges suprised at what they had been charged.

The reason I ask is I cant remember any to my knowledge, when there has been a charge I have always manged to get it back there and then(probably about 6 times)

Im only 21 so havent had years upon years of using my overdraft and being old enough to even get loans etc.

Alot of people on here have there charges to date in there siggy and some go into the 1000's!!! I really cant imagine mine are anything like that???

Any advice is welcome

I have an account with the co-op and have claimed charges back off them with no problem, to be honest they are quite helpful and paid up after my LBA so I would definitely recommend going for it.

Whether the bank is helpful or not does not come into it-you need to remember that it is your money that they have taken-so go and get it back.

Oh ye i know, and I would like back any charges.

But I was wondering if people were suprised at how much they had been charged or did you really think it was in the vicinity that you got back(if that makes sense0

Contractual Interest, different from the 8% statutory interest you claim if you file in court

Ok thanks for your help guys.

Another questions, what is your experience once you have completed succesful claims with the bank.

Im fond of the bank so would like to stay with them but wondered if many people have had accounts closed afterwards and do you feel you have been treated differently since claiming,

I could imagine there is going to be a note on every screen your name is mentioned on if you have claimed.

Smile Re: Not sure if its worth pursuing charges

I don't think you have anything to lose in pursuing charges. As many people on here have said they are surprisingly helpful.

Someone actually rang my daughter to explain to her which charges she could claim for and then she got a letter yesterday from them giving her full refund and 8% interest.

We didn't ask for the interest but I have noticed that other people claiming with Co-op have also had interest paid that they didn't claim for, there is something in my daughters letter about it being in line with Financial Standards legislation.

It may only cost you a stamp to see if they owe you anything as they also returned our £10 S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) cheque with the charges info

Good luck!
