Default Can I Claim?

Hi all, can you help?

I had a Co-op Bank account and credit card which opened about 10 years ago, I haven't used it for at least 4-5 years and am not sure whether I closed it or not after moving to another bank, I have moved a couple of times since too.

I can't find any account details but I can remember them REALLY screwing loads of bank charges out of me for a good while circa 1999-2000.

I have noticed the 'Claim Beyond 6 Years' post and am now wondering if I have any chance of getting this back?

How can I get hold of details for these accounts?

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Chris.

Getting your statements could be the difficult part but the limitation act allows back for 6 years however there could be grounds to challenge this, have a read in the FAQ's thius will help you in your claim.

Thanks BIGMac, I shall read up.

Do I need my actual account numbers to put an Subject Access Request in or will my name and address etc do?
I had a First Direct account and credit card upto about 3 years ago and I can't find those account details either...

Many Thanks

Obviously it can make the bank CLAIM it is harder to locate without account numbers but they can trace it, you may need to prove your identity before they comply with your Subject Access Request though so check this out before sending as this could save you a lot of time as the bank could wait up to 40 days then reply by saying you need to prove your identity therefore another 40 days.

I had a co-op bank account a few years ago which i closed down due to the excessive charges they were levying on me.

i still have copies of all my statements detailing the charges - is it possible for me to claim the money back as the account is now closed?

also, it was a joint account with my ex-boyfriend who now lives abroad and i no longer have any contact with. would he have to sign anything or could i claim the money back without him?

many thanks in advance.

hi breezico, i am sending a Subject Access Request to Co-Op for an account that I have no account number for.
I was advised to send Subject Access Request with as many details as possible, worth a try as they charged me shed loads and out the account into default.
I havent used it for about 9 years but am goin to do my best to claim back charges

Going to have a try at claiming; there is this one and an old First Direct one, from years ago, both have Bank Account Credit Card charges. I have managed to find the credit card account number for Co-op and bank account number for First Direct, this should hopefully speed things up.
I will add as many details as possible to give them fewer excuses for stalling though...
Subject Access Request's will be in the post tomorrow...
