How to inform courts of "part payment"?

Co-op have sent chq for £765 (claim was for £780 - they altered the claim dates - crafty). Anyway I had already issued court proceedings (in which I added interest and the £120 court fee). Co-op reacted too slowly and the court papers would have been issued around the same time as they paid £765 - so I want the other £15 and the interest and the court fees back. I have to let the courts know immediately that I have received some payment. How do I let the courts know? Is a simple letter ok or is there a special form? Thanks for any help.

Thanks - letter has been sent. Moved onto next stage now - the co-op have now said they will defend the whole amount. Will battle on. Thanks for your help.

Don't worry about it. They are probably becoming overloaded with our letters just like the other banks and it will cost them. They altered my claim date but I expect you know this is wrong as claims date from the 1st letter you send them. I like this site for all the help you get along the way so any queries just ask. Will they really defend or is this just bravado? You and I are nearly in the same boat. All the best, Sally
