Hi there,

What a great site this is. Ive started the ball rolling on my claim already before finding this site. I have sent a letter to my bank, the co op requesting charges from the last six years. I have read elsewhere that the banks are about make a decision about bank charges to reduce them to £12 and that this will have an effect on claims such as ours. Is this true?
Whenis a resonable time to phone up and ask where my info is as Im getting impatient here. Its been two weeks since my letter went in.

Cheers

pewee

They have 40 days to respond to a Data Protection Act request

I have been looking at this site and at the letter to ask for the charges. As I mentioned in my intro letter I have already sent a letter asking for this info before I found this site. My letter was very striaght forward and didnt mention most of the requiremnts in the letter from this site.
Should I resend a letter from this site with the "40" days requiremnts etc. or just stick with the letter I sent two weeks ago. Which just asked for the detail of all my fees incured over the last six years and that was it!!
Whad do ya reckon!?

Thanks

pewee

Hey pewee, welcome on board! In answer to your questions, think it depends on:

1. Did you send a Subject Access Request letter to your bank's Data Protection Manager along with a £10 cheque/postal order?

2. Did you send your letter recorded delivery so that you could check on it?

If not to above, I'd suggest sending the Subject Access Request to your relevant bank (data protection manager's address will be in the relevant bank forum) along with the £10 charge recorded delivery to ensure the correct process is adhered to. Start counting 40 days from when they receive it (you can track it online if you use recorded delivery!)

Good luck,
hedgey

Hi Hedgey,

Thanks for you reply, I phoned the co-op and was given an address to write too. I have that address at work so I will check. They said to me that the co=op doesnt charge for this info so I didnt send a cheque.
I didnt do recorded delivery.I get the feeling it might be best to start all over again and use the letter from here and record its delivery!!! ?

Default Should I resend Subject Access Request not sure what to do?

Hi,

Sorry to harp on about this but do you think I should resend my request for Charges to the Co-op. Brief history: I sent a letter requesting my bank charges before finding this site. The letter was very straight forward and didnt mention the 40 days etc as in the letter from this site. and i didnt record the delivery.
I have phoned up the Co-op this morning to see if they have recieved my letter. The operator said it wasnt showing up on the system and that there is a distinct possibility that they have got it but it hasnt been processed yet as there is a back log. He said I would probably hear in two to three weeks time which is within the 40 days since I sent it.

Is that right? Should I be recieving a letter at some point acknowledging my letter?

Thanks

Pewee

you may not recieve confirmation. Wait until about a week before the 40 days then send them a remainder letter. Threads merged please stick to one.
