Hi there,
I am new to this site and there is a lot to digest so thought I'd join the forum just in case I get some questions along the long and winding path to financial gratification - or at least the one to finally recoup all those horrific charges I've incurred over the years.
I remember about a year ago the Co-Op charged me two lots of charges (or 'debit commission' as they call it!) for the following.
On a Wednesday I used my debit card for two payments of £20ish and £5ish, despite the fact that I only had £15 in my account. However, I did this on the premis that when the card payments would debit two days later, it would coincide with the deposit of my salary.
However, the Co-op bizarrely pushed them through so that they went out the next day (anyone ever heard of that?? coz I never have in the whole time I have banked with them!!)
So on the Thursday I received two charges of £35 for these debit card payments, even though the second one for £5 would have kept me within my limit.
I contested it at the time, but they refused to budge, saying that sometimes transactions can go through the next working day!! And that they put the 20quid one through first, so by the time the £5 one went through I was already over my limit!!
Anyway, it's time to reclaim those charges (and various others I've received over the years) and I am excited at the thought!!!
If any other Co-op bank member can give me any tips before I start, I'd be very grateful.
Also does anyone know what I need to do if I change addresses part way through my claim? I am due to move end Feb and am anxious it won't be sorted by then. Obviously I will change my address with the Co-op, but I am worried this may give them a little more lee-way i.e. bank statements/letters got sent to old address etc.
thanks a lot in advance
Angelina
