You may get lucky and Comet will offer a full refund, but if they drag their heels you will have to negotiate with them what you feel a reasonable amount would be.
Basically you only have a very short time in law to reject the goods outright for a full refund. After this time has passed (usually 2-3 weeks in most standard faulty goods cases) the trader is entitled to offer a repair or replacement, which they have done in this case. If this fails, then - and only then - can the consumer push to rescind the contract. As stated before, this is basically a refund less an amount for any wear and tear the consumer has enjoyed from the product. Obviously the longer you have the item the higher the deduction will be. Be prepared to negotiate, don't let them get away with murder but do be reasonable.
Back to your original question - if it was sold as a package by the trader - and not just bought by you on the same day in the same transaction - then it is treated as one contract.
