Sharp 32" Widescreen

On 29.12.2004 I purcahsed a Sharp 32" Widescreen from Comet. The Model is 32LF92H.

The TV came with a standard 1 years Warranty and my partner paid for the extended cover for a further 2 years. The extended cover has recently expired on 28th December 2007.

However, typically a fault has just occurred where by there is a black line at the top of the screen with a flashing coloured line underneath. This is approximately 1.5" deep.

This is now the second occasion that we have had a problem with the TV in the last nine months.

On the 14th May 2007 I did have to call out an egineer from Comet due to a problem with the TV. The engineer repaired the TV and informed me that he had replaced the Thermister.

Do I have a case to go to Comet with the problem and ask them to repair it or replace the TV even though the product is over 3 years old and out of warranty, or am I liable for any repairs?

Any help or advice would be greatly received.

If this is not a flatscreen, then it sounds like the picture height has collapsed a little and just needs a tweak of the controls.

From your decription, it would appear that you are seeing the CEEFAX data stream at the top edge of the picture.

Just adjust the picture height and all should be well.
