Question Shaw Vs Citibank

I'm helping a friend reclaim his charges and have received statements from Citibank. The letter says that they cannot find copy statement for 3 months in 2003...what do I do now?

I'm going to start the claim for the charge information we do have, but should I challenge the missing information.

Also, they have sent a form to complete in order for them to disclose the manual intervention on the account. Has anyone else come across this? Should we complete this and send it back or disregard it?

Thanks.

How have you requested the information? Have you sent a Data Protection Act Subject Access Request letter and paid the £10 fee?

cheers

Hi pink
Thats very serious if they say cant suppy the info you asked for under Data Protection Act Subject Access Request. Yes they have under the DPA Subject Access Request legislation 40 days to supply the info write to them in the strongest terms outlining this and the amount of time left for them to forefill this request.
Citi bank do ask for further info and they are, i believe entitled to do so to verify your identity send it registered post because untill they recieve it their 40 days are still running.

They send out a list of questions (almost 4 pages worth )that they require to verify who you are .
Although they send your statement to your address and they have your phone number ect, they want photocopies of things like utilities bills (name /address ect) DOB, do you work for Citi, ect, ect.
And to protect you they are entitled to do this apparently, and until they recieve it the 40 days deadline cant start.
