Question about paying out Hi, capital one have offerd us half-settlement (£216) and we are after £550. We've decided not to accept this but to continue... however we have decided to press on and go for what we feel we deserve.
However, I am wondering how capital one usually pay out. They have offered to credit our account with the money, which I guess is fair enough, but if we want to actually 'spend' the money on our own family needs (okay, other MUCH bigger bills), it would require us to charge the card in order to free up the money and Capital One would be the ones to benefit from the additional interest we'd be charged.
We've made a conscious decision to no longer 'spend' with credit cards, but were hoping that they would pay out by cheque or something and we could continue to pay off our card as we normally do each month if that makes any sense (our monthly bills with them are so small in comparison towards what we pay other creditors, so we were hoping to use the money to tackle other debts, to snowball them by paying our other larger ones first, if that makes sense) Do they ever pay out by cheque? and if it gets to the small claims stage, are they allowed to just credit our account or must they pay out by cheque?
