Default Can i claim back PPI from Cap One?

Sorry if this has been asked before but if it has i can't find it in the FAQ or anywhere else.

Can Payment Protection Insurance be claimed back if you hav'nt been allowed to use it?

Basically i was made redundent last xmas and so i thought i'd use my PPI (after all they have been taking it every month since 2004). Anyway, when i applied for it they sent me the relevant forms to fill in, which asked for DSS to fill in one part and Employer another part. Anyway i couldn't get the Employer bit filled in as the business closed when we were all made redundent, so i had not forwarding address of my employer. I told Cap One about this and i was told I cannot claim it without this info. Yet they have still been taking the money having known since Janaury that i can't claim it.

So i wondered if i could claim back from January when i originally applied to use the PPI?

amber i cant give you an answer to your question but there as been a few threads talking about a newspaper article that cap1 had not sent out terms and condition information and they were sending letters out to customers as they would be able to claim the ppi back. have a look round iam sure you will find.

I've just got my C1 things back as well. Interestingly I have no recollection of signing anything to say I would have it!
If you can find no info on it I would be obliged to claim it back.
