Interestingly, I wasn't going to bother claiming off Capital One... BUT

They rang me the other day - to tell me I had missed a payment - I apologised and asked if I could pay now and set up a direct debit. They said yes...

I have a balance of £200, so amount should ahve been about £20 if I was to pay next months payment as well. Then he came up with the amount: £60 and something.. I asked him why? and they had charged me 4x 1 months payment or 1/5 of my balance in charegs - unbelievable. I asked him to refund charges as I was paying now, and It was a genuine mistake. He said No - I explained that the charges were unfiar - and still No - SO I informed him I would claim the money back.

I wasn't going to claim back charges, but I thought: £180 balance (at present)_ - they definately owe me at elast £40 just from this month - so if I have been charged at all over the past 6 years - it will probably total more than my oustanding amount - or at elast close.. hence - pay it off and close nasty cap one account... So - they did themselves no favours there - I was going to let them have my money - now I'm not feeling so generous!!

They have offered to refund £96, which is the difference from £12. They are refunding it to my account. I am sending another letter back - quick question though:

When it comes to court - how do I work out the 8% interest? ie they have refunded some of the money
