Default Testimonial: Credit Reference Agencies

I have started a testimonial thread, I am hoping we can use this thread for people to give their experiences and/or views of Credit Reference Agencies and how this have affected their lives be it good or bad, and to show support to legation from government (or not as the case may be).

I would ask anyone posting on the thread, to make only one post (if at any point you should want to add to your post you can do so by editing that post) and not offer any advice or support for others, I ask this as when I start to contact MPs etc for support, they should be able to read peoples posts, and I believe it is important that this does not turn into a debate on the subject but people posting their views and experiences.

Also this is not a one sided thread for those who support changes but a thread for people’s views.

To join in the debate and campaign to change the system with Credit Reference Agencies click here.

I am 50 years of age, and was brought up to always pay my debts and not to 'borrow'. During 1992 I had my own pub in Docklands, a nice car, lifestyle etc etc. In 1993 after the break up of a relationship with someone I totally adored I met a new man (boy what a mistake that was). Not long after meeting him he 'moved' in with me, and a short time later a bomb blew on Docklands and I lost everything, my home, business, car etc. and I noticed that my a/c was getting lower and lower, not long after that my father passed away and this was the final straw I had a complete breakdown. My mother was left quite well off financially and gave me the money to buy a new house.
Anyway in 2000 the relationship finished (yippee), and the man tried to take me to court for the house (luckily everything was in my name). A while later I met my 'old git' and we decided to sell both our houses and buy one together it was then I found out about the blacklisting. The Ex had taken loans etc out for absolute thousands and had forged my name on documents etc to get it.
It has taken years to get all of this sorted out, and boy has it been a pain at times.
I would love to get in touch with the CRA's to take a look at my files but to be honest I am very wary of doing so, and I don't want to have any more nasty surprises.
