Identity Theft and Big Brother Ok, maybe it's too late but think about everything you own that can give away details of your life....
We are advised to guard against identity theft but you probably hold/use or do the following:
Passport
A credit card or two...
Storecard or two...
A Tesco Clubcard
A Sainsbury's Reward Card
Collect Airmiles
An Oyster Card
Phone Top Up card
Pay the congestion charge
(and your parking now too is paid by credit card in London)
Purchase Online
BP points
Gadget insurance
Digital TV
Etc Etc
Your card details and other information is held by these companies.
They know the clothes you buy, how you dress, what you and your families eat, where you go, how long for, what you own appliance/gadgetwise, what you watch on TV and when
All for consumer control...or so we'd believe?
This is not paranoia but fact.
Yes, The Data Protection Act exists but it is only honest people adhering to it and it doesn't stop junk mail or cold calling does it.
What can we do to stop this control? Or can we? |
