Default contacted my local mp

well after a long time thinking about this i have contacted my local mp, stephen barrow, regarding the whole bank charge subject.

i asked him if he was aware of this going on, he didnt have a clue, so i offered to help the community by going to local ward meetings. he is going to contact the other mps and see if they know anyone who i can help. now dont get me wrong, i am definatley not saying ive done it so i know what im doing, far from it, but i think that this would be a great way to get it into the community who are totally unaware of their rights. and if i can help just one family then i will feel sooo much better.

I've done similar. At the start of my own little campaign against MBNA, the Hellifax and the Nation-wideboys, I contacted my local MP to give him details about CAG and suggest to his office that any constituent who experiences problems simlar to mine, may wish to use the CAG website for an idea of how to find informal, but great quality, advice and support.

I've followed this up with details of my own small success in dealing with MBNA and getting all my charges back, and hope to be able to follow it up soon with a success story on both the Halifax and N'wide.

We have also had communications over the auto-diallers used by the financial institutions. I have relayed my experience of being called daily, on the hour, sometimes two or three times an hour and requested that he take steps to raise this where necessary in parliament.

I suppose as individuals we can only keep relaying details of our own campaigns to the local politicians, colleagues and friends. Let people know that this cannot be allowed to continue. 4 months ago I thought I had a never ending hole of debt. Now, I am confident that I have a way out. The only difference is availablity of information and stumbling across CAG one day.

Now I'm an addict - even stopping one woman in the Buchanan Street, Glasgow, branch of the N'wide who was arguing over her charges. I gave her the CAG website address and told her to give it a go! The look on the staff members face was a picture!

My local MP thinks that bank charges are a great deterrent, but then he would he has declared interests in several banks, for your information he is Jonathon Djanogly MP for Huntingdonshire and this is not defamatory or libellous, I posted his reply to my thread. I make sure I tell everyone about CAG and even did a letter box drop in our area to try and make people aware of this. i have made contact with the nearest Credit Union to us and will be working as a volunteer over there and helping people who have similar problems. I refer as many people to this webiste as I can. the more people who know ther rights, the more the banks and the MP's will have to notice.

Go for it and make more people aware of the rights and help as many others as you can gain back what is rightfully theirs. this has to start at the ground root level. it is the only way to get things changed.

Margaret Beckett and Alistair Darlings answer will be posted on here tomorrow( i've tried and can't)
What a pair of ***kers
She passed it on to him and he says "the OFT are satisfied no further intervention is warrented in this area at this time and that this change has brought about substantial benefits for consumers".
PETITION THE PRIME MINISTER
We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Force the banks to repay unlawful bank charges and remove the six year time bar, forcing them to pay back everything from at least 1980.

What we need is thread where all the MP's replies can be posted for all to read.

Perhaps one of the MODS could organise this (sorry ladies and gentlemen) this way all the answers are in one place with no generalised comments by the members, just MP's letters.

It just might make the MP's sit up, as their researchers will certainly point this out to them. Nothing like keeping the pressure on all of them.

As my dad says,'It is your job to keep the b=r=t=r=s honest and take notice of what really affects their constituents not what they think the voting public wants'

Did you contact your MP? Post their response here

Looking a bit disjointed, as I just extracted the responses without the other posts wich were in this thread:

Your MP

(they're still there as well if you need the context)

Now go and post your MP responses in there, I'm done!

Write back to your MP and advise him that he is merely expressing an opinion on this matter.

The fact is that these charges are unlawful under the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999. Go to Office of Public Sector Information and serch for the legislation, print it off and send it to him see if he can argue the toss with you then.

Your MP is there to look after constituents. My response would be I did not ask for your opinion in this matter I asked what your party is going to do to enforce this law better and bring justice to millions of account holders.

UP THE REVOLUTION!!!!
