Exclamation Consultation on the removal of barriers to the sharing of non-consensual credit data

You may want to check out this idea that the banks are hoping to get the Government to agree to. It appears that they have persuaded the DTI to consider allowing banks and CRAs to share your information WITHOUT your agreement. :o

http://www.dti.gov.uk/consultations/page34515.html

Normally these consultations only get about 10 submissions from the businesses that are going to benefit and one or two from campaigning organisations. The Government is then able to say "...90 percent of respondents agree with our proposals..."

If you want to protect your rights - get writing.

Further to the above the consultation document contains this nugget of information:

Quote:
Discussions with stakeholders suggest that the costs of a mail shot are the price of a second-class stamp (21p) plus the cost of the letter (5p) per person. It is possible to negotiate down the costs of postage.

The Government takes people’s rights to privacy very seriously and wants to strike the right balance between individual rights and the wider public interest.
That's interesting, since no wider public interest at all can be served by allowing the banks to further screw people over.
