Your bank account isn't 'verified' is it?? if so remove all funds from that as well at least until the buyer confirms receipt of goods

yes, im 'verified' (81) ... so that means that paypal can take money from my bank account..! I cant empty account as DD's etc., going through. Surely there would be a dispute raised if this hungarian tries to claim mobile not received, paypal cant take money without contacting me.... can they???? What makes me a bit more suspicious is that I offered to send the phone via TNT which can be tracked and you can see proof of signing on line....and he declined saying he wanted Royal Mail signed for...

Will canceling the Paypal DD not solve the problem?

dont think so, think JonCris meant to empty my personal bank account as well as being verified gives paypal access to my bank account to reclaim monies... ... anyway, I dont care how much it costs in the post office, but I will post with proof of posting, compensation and signature!!

I have a verified paypal account, all that I can see that has changed is that there in now a variable direct debit instruction on my account.

ah, perhaps I got the wrong end of the stick... but I thought jonC was pointing out that being verified meant that paypal could access your bank account to reclaim buyers money in the event of goods not being received (scam).

If this guy tries it on and says he has not received the phone then make sure you report him as payment not received. They have to investigate both complaints. Just remember not to mark the item as payment received until he acknowledges receipt of the phone.

Precisely as in red. They can withdraw any sum they choose ................. & it's why I won't under any circumstances verify my bank account with PayPal ........ effectively it's a licence for them to steal every penny in your account & there's nothing you can do apart from demanding a refund which as some here will already know can take forever

Bl88dy hell. I didn't realise that was the case. I thought that they could only take what was in your PP account. I am going to empty the account I use for pp.
Thanks for that info JC.

as a buyer only on ebay i`m not sure of the in`s and out`s of the seller`s rules but i`m sick of being held to ransom but bad sellers.ideally when i buy and pay for an item then feedback should be left for me as i have done everything i should the policy of sellers to wait untill the buyer leaves feeback before reciprocating is unacceptabe.reversing this new rule is not enough new rules need to be put in place, ones that do not permit blackmail by either party.

yes, thanks JonCris for the info, I didnt realise that what being vertified meant! I will do my best to move money in bank account without jepordizing my DD etc.,
But, I will put my positive head on and trust that this is a very honest man despite finding out about his 8 neg feedback, and that he really wants the mobile..... and of course trust that the post office does not screw up! Thanks to all for your advice xxx

I did used to leave positive feedback to buyers as soon as they had paid until a few bad buyers went on to leave me negative for stupid reasons like it was a day later that they thought it would be or it hadn't been polished .
Believe me there are far more dodgy buyers than sellers on ebay and once they realise they have the upper hand with regards to feedback it is the sellers who will be held to ransom.

Totally agree with you. I used to always leave feedback to buyers immediately. It always annoys me of the amount of buyers who do not have the courtesy to leave feedback.
I mentioned previously today about neutral and negative feedback, do others feel that now under the new system that they should carry the same weight? I dont see the point, they may as well abandon the neutral option now...?

You are right. No point in the neutral option at all now. Ebay will have worked out the best way for them to make even more money and they will not change it no matter what the feelings of the sellers are. They will however change the feedback system when the amount of sellers starts decreasing as a result of this one sided feedback joke. Unfortunately there are not any better alternatives at the the moment and car boot sales are just too early in the morning for me.
