Default buying a caravan the pitfalls[big campaign]

i would like it to be brought to attention to people about buying a caravan. you get really ripped of, esp when you need to sell one due to unforseen circumstances, if you buy one for £38.000 which we did owned it for 2 years the cost you can get back on it is £12.000 that is suppose to be the book value,, also the caravan owners make it so hard for you to sell it privately, so that you give up in the end and nearly always have to sell it back to them for a pittance, so beware if you want to buy one get it at the lowest price pos, or stand to loose the loss just a bit of advice to take heed of

Hi

A static caravan is just another name for a moblie home & it's called a caravan to comply with planning laws

You can keep a caravan/mobile home on private land where you might not be able to keep a fixed structure with cannot be readily moved

yes they do cost that much unfortunately we did not know of any pitfalls about buying one at that price because on the site we were on they were all priced from around 25000 to over the price we payed, buying a caravan sounds really a good way to get away, also i must admit some sites are ok and people are happy with what they get but there are pitfalls esp if you have to sell one, you have no control on what the site fees are. esp when the next year comes about 2100 2350 2550 2890 you just have to take it our else i'm afraid,

well thats how we have been dealt with

i would like to hear from anyone who has have had good dealings or bad

we have had a mobile home on the same site, infact the same pitch, for 22 years and are on our fourth 'van' and would recommend it if you don't look at it as an investment. We are lucky that the site we are on is well run and maintained but i've seen some that look like Basra on sea. They are expensive so all i can say is think long and hard before you buy to ensure its what you want. Finally to Tom87 some of these units can cost £60000, 38 grand is mid-range

The site we are on prices are calculated on the pitch it is on. i.e. sea/hill/no view. Also the 'van of course
Some prices are £100.000+. I know our site makes a fair bit of income from us caravan owners. When we buy, sell or any other services they provide. I was charges £48 for lighting a boiler last year. Owning a caravan is expensive and I did not realise or think about all the extras when I bought it. Now, I dont want to sell as I will lose so much money.
