Regarding the FSA and the waiver

I noticed recently that some senior people from the FSA had stepped down as a result of the handling of the Northern Rock situation.

Given that not a lot if happening with regard to the stay is there any way we can keep the heat on the FSA?

There must be thousands of people who are adversely affected by this. For example my brother was sent a laughable form by NatWest who suddenly relaized he may have been in financila hardship. Despite the advice in thier lierature to contact them if you are in difficulty they took no action other than vast charges and issuing a default notice. The reason I say the form is a joke is that he is not in hardship NOW like he was then. His income with a job is better than without.

In fact the MAIN thing causing him hardship is that he CANNOT take his mortgage away from NatWest, without paying an arm and a leg, because of the actions they took.

Hardly seems fair does it? I would suggest that is because it isn't.

Is there anyway of involving other organisations in this? Any large org that collects data on people in difficulty. Why haven't we seen someone on TV FACE TO FACE with whomever came up with this hair brained scheme?

I believe coming face to face with the consequences of your policies is one way to nudge people to think again.

I've encountered the same trouble. The Banking Code - at least the version I dealt with in 2005 - states that banks *must* act sympathetically if you have told them about financial difficulties. I did that as soon as I got in trouble with their charges and had found out about my rights, and they flatly ignored it.

In fact, banks seem to ignore the Banking Code whenever it suits them to. They don't even blink when you mention it by name or spell out their obligations. Nobody holds them to account for it. Yet they still proudly advertise that they comply with it, year after year, revision after revision.

I think this is a Trading or Advertising Standards issue.
