This Petition was started (not by me!) to object to the Nursing and Midwifery debate to change Childrens Nurse Training to a generic nurse training.
There is a lot of research to prove that the care given to Children and Young People in Hospital, and their families, should come from a Nursing Profession with the training, experience, knowledge and understanding of those needs.
There is a vast difference between the care needs of a child and an adult and this has always been addressed through specific training.
Nurse training has changed so much since I came into the Profession. I did a generic nurse training then did further training to specialise into a Childrens Nurse. Then training developed and started as Childrens or Adult training from the start and the knowledge and experience gained was specific to the needs of the Child or Adult. Now it is being debated to take us back to the 1970's generic nurse training again.
Where is the sense in that?
Would you rather have a Generic Nurse care for your sick child or a Childrens Nurse with specific training and knowledge?
