I sent a reply via email

"Hi,

Thanks for that standard reply, now I am sure I have seen that reply elsewhere, oh yes, you sent it to everyone with the same enquiry.

So basically, in less garbled words, your telling me to put up or shut up, move on to another bank.
Do you tell all your customers who are not happy to "go away" sounds like a great business plan.
So much negativity in your email to me, even IF you did charge fair amounts in which you obviously believe, how can you expect anyone to take you seriously when the only positive in your email is the first two words and the last two "Thank You" and "Your Sincerely" As appose to Yours?
That's fine, you have basically tried to dust me under the mat in hope I would blow away. Simple, I will just be forced to claim this back through the courts.

Lee Prescot"

Guess it's time to get serious

Hi,

I sent the Data Protection Act letter to Cahoot on 9th March, asking for my statements, all I've got so far is a message on my phone asking me to ring them. I've just emailed them instead.

Hi,

I got this in reply to my email, I thought it might raise a smile.
Quote:
Dear Mrs D,

Thank you for your recent email.

We have one goal at cahoot - for you to think cahoot is the best bank in the UK, with simple products and a consistent service standard that exceeds your expectations.

There's always room for improvement though, so that's why we're eager to hear what you have to say and we'll be asking you for your opinion regularly. Following your recent contact with us, we'd very much appreciate some feedback about the service you received.

Please click here to answer a few short questions.

Kind regards,
The cahoot team

Ok, for a Scottish claim against Cahoot I had to complete a 'Summary Cause Summons' form, available from the Scottish Sheriff Court's website. Very easy to complete.

Posted off to my local Sheriff court today (Perth).

Awaiting their reply.

Letters now drafted and sent to: Clydesdale bank plc (£1,939), Nationwide building society (£1,512), Bank of Scotland (£92.39).

Looking now at Egg (Prudential) as excessive fees have also been applied in the past for being £1-4 over agreed limit.

The Bank Action Group really is a tool to help chisel away at the greedy banking institutions! Keep it up guys!

Thumbs up Re: Cahoot anyone?

Are Cahoot starting to crumble?!!! I wrote to them asking for the details of charges levied against me and I received an Email stating that they were sorry to hear my complaint and that they would be looking into it. I replied that Iwasn't aware that I had made a complaint and that I was merely looking for the details under the Data Protection Act, and today I received a cheque for £50, a refund for two charges on my account, even before I have asked for any money!! Keep up the good work!

They tried that with me, offering me £160 of the £800 they owe me to quiety walk away and stop hassling them. Didn't work. I'm currently awaiting their defence (or a cheque for the full amount).

Thats quite amusing... I've been dealing with a Lee Berdauskas who is a "team co-ordinator" in regard to a Data Protection Act request. Thought he was quite reasonable for that... Couple of emails from idiot minions before he emailed having "taken full ownership of my concerns" and provided the information free of charge... All in just 4 days over the Easter weekend !

Unfortunately having read this though it seems that I might have to get legal on them to actually get any money back then...

Update, after a long slog, Cahoot offered me 500 pounds, I more than likely could of continued and got the full amount back.

But I stopped at 500 from a possible 1000, though this was a gesture of goodwill according to Cahoot

I wrote to Cahoot on 19 June - the first letter in the library - as they gave me a list of all my charges and interest without question. I have got exactly the same standard reply as other posters here, signed by a Lee Loftus....wonder if that is Lee Berdauskas in disguise!!! Do I send the 2nd letter now or go straight to the Scottish Summary Cause Summons mentioned by another poster earlier?
