Tiscali !! Billing issue

Not sure what I'm after here if only a bit of reassurance I'm doing the right thing!

History..........

I have been with Tiscali (yeah I know!) for about 8 years including one move of address.

Out of the blue 2 weeks ago I recieved a letter from a DCA called CARS about my debt to tiscali for £350 odd (two years+) non payment of bill!

I (after taking a big breath!) looked into my bank account and realised that since a billing issue with Tiscali (about two years+ ago) with a refused direct debit and after paying the outstanding amount and re submitted my bank details, Tiscali had then failed to take the direct debit!
I genuinely had not noticed (so many DD's!) and had and still do have a 100% broadband connection with no request for payment from tiscali.

I have logged onto my account @ Tiscali and all my billing details are there and correct!

CARS have now said they want £40 a month to clear the bill which I have agreed to, however I wonder if there is another course of action?

Talking to the man from CARS I am not the only one he said they have hundreds of identical cases and he had just got off the phone with the previous caller who had an outstanding unbilled bill of £2000!!!

Any advice would be much apprieciated I am not really disputing that I owe the money however it does not feel right that they can pop up from nowhere without any redress.
