Default Line rental issue for Orange Homestarter, help please!!

Hi
Before Jan 14th i was on Orange Dial-Up.
From Jan 14th, my Orange BB Homestarter was activated, which includes free evening & weekend calls.
The calls have only just been activated due to a problem connecting my postcode to my landline number & i was still getting bills from Talk Talk.
I got 2 Goodwill months free.

I then got a letter from Talk Talk (who i pay line rental too also) saying some other company (Orange), is wanting to take over my calls.
This i was told would happen by Orange.

Orange told me that the contract with them is for calls only & i'd have to keep paying Talk Talk or BT for my landline rental.
Talk Talk told me that if another company took over my calls, it would mean other services would be dropped by them, including 1571 & landline rental.

Again, Orange tell me that the contract with them is for calls only & they don't do landline rental with my package.
I called Talk Talk again, & they said they can't offer just landline rental & neither can BT. Both BT & Talk Talk's basic packages contain a call plan which i don't need as i pay this to Orange.

I was with BT & then switched to Talk Talk & then used their landline service too, now i just want landline, prefferably from Talk Talk as it will save transfering back, if its at all possible anyway.

Does anyone have Orange Homestarter & can tell me who they pay their landline rental to as it seems both Talk Talk & BT don't offer just this.
The calls start on 28th April & it looks like at the moment, by then, i'll not have a landline to call on or use Broadband.
I don't want to be paying 2 companys for calls when i get them from Orange, just so i can have line rental, as the basic packages include a call plan included. I just want the line rental.

Any help appreciated

In recent months i have left Virgin and had my BT line re-installed. I then went onto a plan with Sky which includes calls only. I only pay BT £11 per month for the line rental.

Hello Gazmix,

The following is a direct extract from there T&C…

Transferring Services
2.14 If you are a Call Service Customer and / or an LR Service Customer and elect to use another provider for some or all of your calls we may, at our sole discretion, decide to: (i) bar your use of IDA codes; (ii) charge you a higher fee for your use of the Call Service and / or LR Service; or (iii) disconnect your Call Service and / or LR Service (or Broadband Service if applicable).

I also have posted below the link to there T&C…

http://www.talktalk.co.uk/talktalk/servlet/gben-server-AssetServer?article=MAIN. UK.TALKTALK.STATIC.TERMS. BBTERMS1&asset=PRODUCT_TE RMS

As you can see from there T&C they can charge you more or cancel some or all of your services.

What I would do is to call there Cancellation Department which is also known as Customer Retention Department and tell them that you want to cancel your services with them.

When they ask you Why you want to leave, you can explain what you would like to be able to do. They will more than likely listen to what you want than loose a customer.

Hope this helps and keep us updated.

Good luck
