Can I have O2 broadband and Virgin Broadband in the same house?

Will both computers have their own different ip's, since one is on Virgin and the other will be on O2, do I need a 2nd phone line, if its wireless?

Yes you can have both Virgin cable and o2 adsl.

They would have different IP addresses.

You can have an adsl with wireless router/modem and you can have cable modem and a wireless router. Cable does not have a combined router/modem.

You will set each up independently of the other, but you will have to log out of one wireless network and then log into the other, or have two computers, one on each network.

You must have a BT landline for the O2, it wont work on Virgin cable telephone line.

But why do you want to? That's 2 bills instead of 1. You can connect multiple computers to a single line by using a router - wireless or wired

In simple terms, a router shares the broadband between 2 or more PCs, either connected directly with wires or using wireless cards. If all you are trying to do is share the broadband, then you don't need two providers.

Most routers are cheap and very easy to set up - in minutes, with the default settings, straight out of the box (although you should check the security settings in the manual too)

Exactly as Robin says.

I can only use a Lynksys as an example as that is what I have always used.
You put the cd into the drive and up comes a step by step Micky Duck instruction set ie; standby while we check your internet connection - check ok - plug your connection from modem into the router - plug your pc into the router - two minutes later it is all set up. It shows pictures of where to plug into so you really can't go wrong.

Have a go and save yourself a lot of money.

Mines a netgear and that was simple to set up ....... had to be for me to do it

I got a bt home hub of the internet for £10 including post

Plug in the phone line and the ether cable that came with it and the used cd.

worked first time, and i now have 4 laptops that use it for the cost of one broadband connection.

ADSL Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line and DIALUP use phone line the other common one is CABLE
